Things that just make you laugh when you read

I couldn't help but laugh out loud when I read this in the July issue of the Forbes Magazine:
"The resentment against against an overwhelming arrival of foreigners came out in June in an attack against a Pole."

People have now started attacking inanimate objects too, to show their resentment!!! :)

Why does it always happen like this?!?!

Yep.... once again it is the case. It's exam time, and all of a sudden I am writing stuff over here. There have been times when I have been watching Boston Legal (or any other series for that matter) for hours and hours NON-STOP. But, there is something with exams, that induces the writing instict in me. Is it just that I'm actually practicing??? Because (oh yeah, they say don't start with because.... but what the hell!! :D), for all you know, I might be writing the exact same thing in the exams the next day!! :)

Well, it's something that I myself may not be able to answer. Maybe you can help me out .(Those of you who do end up reading this that is.... which I think is not many ;) )

Some interesting things from Warren Buffet's letters to the shareholders

I am at present going through some of the letters to the shareholders given by possibly the best investor of all time, Mr. Warren Buffet (He is also the CEO of Berkshire Hathaway). I'll be posting some interesting things as and when I read them. Here is the first one :

Ben Graham told a story 40 years ago that illustrates why investment professionals behave as they do: An oil prospector, moving to his heavenly reward, was met by St. Peter with bad news. “You’re qualified for residence”, said St. Peter, “but, as you can see, the compound reserved for oil men is packed. There’s no way to squeeze you in.” After thinking a moment, the prospector asked if he might say just four words to the present occupants. That seemed harmless to St. Peter, so the prospector cupped his hands and yelled, “Oil discovered in hell.” Immediately the gate to the compound opened and all of the oil men marched out to head for the nether regions. Impressed, St.Peter invited the prospector to move in and make himself comfortable. The prospector paused. “No,” he said, “I think I’ll go along with the rest of the boys. There might be some truth to that rumor after all.”

Sitting in Class....

I'm currently writing this post, whilst sitting in class. There seem to be some people saying some stuff about the financial crisis, bailout packages and what not. But, I am sitting here writing this. :D

What I have understood over the one year (oh yeah it really has been a year since I started this journey of Management Education), is that everyone is for oneself. Friends are there, but only as long as they are not graded alongwith you. The comeptition is furious. It is even more in the current scenario of scarcity of jobs in the market.

Should I also join in and fight my way to survive? Yes. Should I do it in ways that would go against my "ethics"? I don't think so. Imagine a situation wherein you are one of the lowest in class because of marks being given based on some random function, and then you find out that in another subject, you go lower down because of reasons that are very much debatable. You have worked much harder than the first term, but you end up getting a grade average which is lower than what it was before.

Each person will have his own individual views. Should this have happened? I did not want it to. Can anyone change anything this time around? Things look bleak. Should your final grade be based on randomness? Absolutely not. Will people be ready to help those affected? Not unless they themselves are. Lots of mails going around, but I haven't seen any concrete action taken till now. Things cannot be done alone. I have found that out the hard way.

I look to a few people for solace and comfort in this situation. I know for sure that writing mails and demanding action will not have any desired effect. What do I do?

Anyways, as I said, first year is almost over, and I am off to Mumbai for a couple of months to do my internship in a profile that is considered "superb" by many people. I am just grateful to those who have provided me with this opportunity. Now all is left is to make full use of it.....

Spice it up!!!

A conversation with one of my good friends :

Me: Yo! wsaaappp (now that I look at all my chats, I cannot help but laugh at seeing this!!)
PP: *some random stuff*
.
.
.
Me: Hey.. check out my blog and do tell me what you think about it.. (Shares this blog name with the person)
PP: *after reading the blog for 5 seconds* (The person is a really fast reader. But then, there is not much here YET. :) ). Hey! This blog of yours needs some spicing up!!! It needs to have gossip from college. And that too, all added with your "ideas". You see, fabricated gossip works. Trust me!!

Me: :| :|

Afterward, me thinks she has a point there. Look at it this way... who does not want to hear gossip??!? And who would not love to read it from a place like a blog?!!?

But then, I am actually not that kind of a person. I would be the last person to hear any sort of gossip (So last that the whole gossip story would have changed by the time it reached me).

Hence, although the person is right in saying that this place does need some spicing up, the method of the spicing would not be according to the person's wishes. :)

What do you think about it?

The BIG Game...

Yes. Today is the day of the BIG game. The potential title decider, according to some. I don't understand that statement at all.

On the one hand, you have a team who is firing on all cylinders, who, on even a bad day, manages to beat the champions of Italy 2-0, and who has a healthy seven point lead at the top of the premiership, with one game in hand!!! On the other hand, you have a team that is almost unbeatable in Europe, but is huffing and puffing in England.

Who would you put your bet on? I am certainly biased (Manchester United being my team of course). I do not see this game as one that Man Utd would lose. But, you never really know. That is the beauty of the game known as football.

The buildup to the game.

Over here at the IDPL hostel area, us friends are planning to watch it together. We've bought all the stocks of chips and Pepsi/Coca Cola. We are just waiting for the game to begin. :)

The newest thing I watch in Youtube...

....Ventriloquism. And real good ones at that too.

It's not just how they manage to throw their voice. It's also about the expressions that they manage to potray on the puppets that is just out of this world.

This video has been viewed by more than 84 million users on youtube. Just goes to show how good Jeff Durham actually is. He has a whole host of characters, videos of which you just need to search in Youtube.

This guy is not that bad either. Paul Zerdin is from England, and he is really good. The link that I have posted over here is the one that I liked the most.

Well... time for me to get back to viewing them videos!! :)

And you thought only we students gave proxies!!!

Yes... it's seen at the "highest" of places too!!! (Thanks Nikhil for the link!! :) )

Imagine if such a thing was implemented over here in India. I'm expecting the exact same reaction over here. Some things can always be predicted.

See this space for more articles of this sort. For now, Enjoy.....

As Expected...

.... I haven't even seen this place for quite sometime. You may think it's because I do not have the time. Oh how wrong you are.

It's time this place became more active....
